First, let me get one thing 100 percent clear. Like the phrase «loud and clear» that I would have said on my radio if I was still working in the fire department and I wanted those around me to understand that I heard them perfectly:
This blog post is NOT made to brag. It's not to make you feel bad by lifting myself up high.
NO!
First of all: I'm not that kind of person. Secondly: I just had to write this to you today. Right now, before making dinner. I know that some of you really really need to read this today.
You see, I have done what I know so many of you want to do: I did what I wanted to do in life. I followed my dreams, my «why», my purpose when I finally found it after being a totally stressed out and angry woman diagnosed with PTSD.
For those of you who have followed me for a while, you know that I didn't make that decision in a split second. I had my doubts, my fears, my «what if...» over and over again. Of course I was afraid! I desperately wanted to do something that made me live my life the way that I wanted to live it. At the same time, I was so afraid that I would ruin my family's life if I did! We had a mortgage, we had obligations, and I had a good job with a steady income.
Today, I thanked myself once again. I thanked myself for taking the chance. For going after my «why», for becoming my own boss so I can live life the way I want to live it. Doing what I love. Being free to decide what to do, and when to do it.
Being there for them (Paul, my children and my grandson) when they need me.
Like today...
I decided that I just wanted to do fun things the entire day. Getting energy for a two day course I am hosting in the city of Bergen, Norway. Preparing for the course, making it a valuable one for the students. A course they feel is something that makes them even more prepared for the job they are going to do.
As the rest of my family woke up, I decided to sleep in. I really needed those extra hours of sleep. Waking up at 9 am, I felt like a new person!
Then I worked on my course, and some other tasks, before I decided to take a bath. It was there, laying in my bath tub, I started to think back in time. How I used to get stressed by my obligations at work. How a bath was something I could only do late at night, after finishing all the tasks at home. But, let's keep it real: when the night came, I was usually so tired that I just went straight to bed. Without taking that bath I had dreamed of taking.
After getting dressed this morning, I went out in the sun with our two dogs, sitting with my eyes closed thinking of how a day like this could be good for so many people out there.
We live this short life. We deserve to live it good. We deserve to do what we love, so we start loving ourselves even more as well.
Like I always say: Like attracts like...
I'm not saying that I don't work a lot from time to time as my own boss. I do. But I love it. I love what I do.
I'm not saying that it's not scary from time to time, knowing that it's all up to me. It is. But it's worth it.
So... if you are in the same situation as I was a couple of years ago, not knowing what to do and how to do it:
Know that you can have what you're dreaming of. You can live the life the way you want to live it. You have to work for it.
I don't say that you can sit still with your eyes closed, and when you open them again you have what you want.
But, when you are longing for a way to live your life, think of this blog post. Think of me, and how I turned my anger, frustration, stress and being tied to a job, into living life on my own terms.
Living my life based on my «why».
For those of you who are on my email list, I will send you an invitation when my new online course «The Life Purpose Formula» is ready.
It's a course on how to uncover your life purpose and what you are meant to do, so you can go out there and create your dream career, just the way I did it. Like a powerful step-by-step system that will help you regain your happiness and joy, because you find your mission in life.
When your day comes. When you do what you love for a living, then I really hope that you write a blog post like this. Inspiring other people who are in a stage of their life where they want to live the life they deserve and desire, but don't know what to do or how to do it...
Can you promise me that?
PS: If you want to start visualizing a day in your life when YOU have created your dream job, and live your life the way you want to live it, you can use this beautiful journal sheet I have made:
